The Challenge

Business Atlas is a B2B travel publication. Their previous platform was a tired WordPress install with 4-second page loads and an ad stack that ran the show. They needed to keep the ad revenue, drop the load time, and not lose anything during the rebuild.

The Solution

We migrated the entire site (12 years of articles, ~14,000 posts) to a headless setup with Astro on the front and the existing WordPress as a content backend. Ads were rebuilt as deferred-load components with proper viewport detection — readers see content first, ads second.

Median LCP dropped from 4.2s to under 800ms. Ad revenue held steady because we kept the same providers and slot configuration.

• Content migration via WP REST API with redirects for every URL
• Ad slot system that lazy-loads outside the viewport
• Author/category/tag archives + search rebuild
• An editorial preview that lets writers see staged drafts before publishing

The colour palette is a quiet dark mocha — designed to disappear behind the editorial content.
